Computer Camp

What is Computer Camp? volunteers gather together at computer camp
Computer camp is full of fun-filled, challenging activities that develop literacy, communication, fine motor skills, learning and leisure skills.  Youngsters with and without disabilities play and work together.  Check out our Computer Camp page to learn more. Camp is held in our Atlanta office on Cliff Valley Way.

Who can volunteer for Computer Camp?

What training does Lekotek provide for volunteers?
We will provide a 2-day training course prior to the start of camp.  During training, individuals will work with computer hardware, adaptive input devices, and software for all ages, while learning positioning and child management techniques. Strong emphasis is placed on using the computer within a "play" environment. Individuals will become "experts" in the use of computer technology with children.

Training for the 2019 sessions will take place on July 11-12.
The specific training times depend on which camp session(s) you're volunteering for.

When could I volunteer?
Camp sessions will be held July 15-18 and July 22-25, 2019. Each week there is a morning and afternoon session. You are welcome to stay and volunteer for the whole day or choose either session.

Did You Know?

Helene Prokesch, Director of Lekotek and children playing with a puzzle

The word "Lekotek" comes from the Swedish word "lek," meaning play, and the Greek suffix "tek" meaning library. Lekotek is based on a Scandinavian model of early intervention and special education. Loosely translated, Lekotek means play library, but to the 5,500 families Lekotek has helped, it's so much more.

Our Vision & Mission

Our vision is a world where children with disabilities are included and empowered through play. Our mission is to facilitate the inclusion of children with disabilities into their families, schools and communities by providing accessible play, adapted toys, technology, information and resources.
